but I lost 4lbs this week for a total of 20 lbs lost. And it only took 14 weeks! ;) Lordy, I hope that the next twenty doesn't take that long but if it does...no biggie. I'll just keep pluggin' along. So according to my reward system, 20 lbs gets me a new purse. This is awesome since my current purse is in the process of falling apart. Ross, Marshall's....here I come!
Question: What healthy ways have you found to deal with tough emotions?
I have been having some uber stressful weeks and an especially stressful one last week and the first few days of this week. Which I believe is one reason I have lost so much (cause lord knows I haven't been exercising). My appetite has uncharacteristically decided to bail on me. Well, not every day but most days. Could I finally be getting ahead of this "emotional eating" thing? Only time will tell.

Great job on the loss! :) whoohooo! Emotional eating is a tough battle. I think getting away from the food is important when you are used to turning to it. I like to get out of the house, even do a little retail therapy! lol
Have fun purse shopping- I love using a reward system for weigh loss! :)
Great job!!! Thats amazing! You really need to give yourself a pat on the back, 20lbs is an incredible feat!!! I'm trying to lose 50, and its so nice hearing other women losing that much weight, its very inspiring, so thank you :)
Some ways I deal with tough emotions is I like to think of quotes like "In the end, itll all be OK. If its not OK, then its not the end!" and "This too shall pass" Also, I am very religious, and I know God will lead me through it :)
To deal w/ my emotional eating, I "window" shop for dresses online that I am in love with but cant fit into or watch that Andrew Zimmerman show where he eats gross stuff, thats a way to stop my appetite LOL
anyhoo, have fun purse shopping!!! you deserve it!!!
Congrats on your twenty!
And more excitedly, congrats that your twenty were not the same 5 pounds gained and lost 4 times!!! (Ahem, puts head down for a moment and feels all virtual eyes glaring at me... guilty as charged.)
The emotional eating is going to take lots of time and patience. I'm still working on it, but it's worth the fight!
I'm so proud of you! Also, I would love to partake of the new-purse shopping. ;)
In...not of. Ugh.
Super work on the latest 4 lbs! What a great suprise for you since you didn't seem to be expecting it. I'm ready for a suprise like that!
Recognizing emotional eating and being aware of it are so important. If you can stop the destructive behavior, you're gonna win! Once you realize that your inner voice is full of crap (at least the voice that encourages you to gorge your belly when upset), it just falls into place that you have no appetite when emotional. At least that's how it's worked for me.
Not to say that I don't have my days when I eat treats, goodness knows I do! But I can be satisfied with a serving instead of a a truckload!
2o lbs is fabulous! Well done. And maybe all the better and more maintainable for having taken that many weeks.
woo hooo yay for a new purse .. if u have a jc penny check there too they have some great deals... and have really updated their styles... woo hoo for you..
I handle tough situations by expressing myself in words.. either on my blog or I talk to my husband and say I am having a hard time and I want to eat because of this feeling.. please listen to me.. and I USE THOSE WORDS.. men like to solve things.. and a lot of time we just need a listening ear from someone who supports us emotionally..
