Hello all! I just wanted to address something really quickly before I resumed an actual post. In the past week I have received two very judgemental comments on my blog. One concerning my language and the other how much I eat. The former at least left their blog name so that I could get an idea of who they where (even though they haven't posted anything on their blog in which to comment on) but the later isn't even a blogger or if he is he is too scared to leave his actual address and would rather hide behind a "screen name."
To the first negative Nancy, if the words that I use upset you then please feel free to discontinue reading my blog. It's a free country in which I can write what I choose and you have the right to not read it. If you don't like my blog then just don't read it. It's really not necessary to leave me a comment to say that you don't like it or that my language offends you. Really, I wont be upset if you don't read. :)
To the second downer Dan, I don't need or appreciate your negative or judgemental comments about how much or what I eat. Obviously food is a gray area for me, one on which I am working but it is a process and nobody is perfect. I make mistakes, I eat things that are not good for me but I also eat things that are. That is why it is a CHALLENGE for me. I don't put down the ounces of what I eat because I don't measure, which maybe I should but that is my choice. The first step for me is to be honest about my mistakes and record them whether I want to or not because I am serious about becoming healthy but again, it is a work in progress. For someone who has a very physical job like myself and exercises I do need more fuel than the average Jane. And when I do make a not so healthy choice, believe me, I am beating myself up over it more than you ever could. So no thanks, I don't need help in that department.
I'm sorry that I even had a need to make this post and I am not trying to be negative myself. I receive far more supportive comments than not but felt it should be addressed.
Hey other weight loss bloggers, is this a problem for you too?

After I left that comment I realized how harsh I sounded. I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean to do that but I did mean to share my thoughts with you. I, too, am on a weight loss journey and know how hard it is to find time/willpower to eat the right things. However, I also realize that having people telling you that it's OK to eat the bad things because "everyone falls off the wagon...etc." is not helpful. At least it wasn't for me. I had a friend who lost 45 pounds to support me with the truth. If I ran down a menu that wasn't cool she told me so. With that being said, I again apologize but eating a menu such as that will not give you results. Portions served at restaurants are huge, that's why serving sizes exist. Not measuring your food may help you mentally but it will just cause you to overeat. Heart to heart, I would like to follow your successes but you must change your eating habits if you intend to succeed.
Dear Srndpty,
You are very rude. You say that you too are on a weight loss journey, but I don't believe you. If you were, you would understand--better than anyone else--how hard it is to make the right decisions about food and portion sizes. You would know that people with weight issues are treated poorly by many, and you would also know that the tough love approach I believe you are trying to use here is hurtful and produces the opposite results that are intended.
How dare you come on to this blog of positivity, hopefulness and honesty and try to run my friend down? Mind your own business, or start your own weight lost blog. Clearly your approach is quite different than Olivia's, and you've clearly offended her. Common sense would tell you to just not visit again instead of trying to apologize (but really not apologizing at all).
Finally, she had a small Blizzard. A SMALL SIZE. She's allowed to have a treat every now and then, and at least she tried to control herself by having a small size. If you want to support her, don't call her out on her mistakes. She's clearly aware of them on her own.
Alrighty, let's try to turn this situation into a positive one. :)
Srndpty0110,
Thank you for your apology and I think I understand what you are trying to get across. Your previous comment gave me a lot to think about and basically reflected back to me things I was already feeling and thinking about myself. So thank you again. I believe that everything happens for a reason and maybe your not so supportive first comment is the kick I need in the rear.
Retainer Girl,
You, lady, are my champion. Thank you for coming to my defense. I couldn't ask for more loyal or compassionate friends. So today I have decided that we should all start over, let go of the anger and rock out!! Love you gurl! :)
I can't even admit to myself at this stage in my weight loss journey the amount or types of food I actually eat in a day, so for Olivia to come on here and open herself up to everyone the way she does is pretty inspiring. So thank you Olivia!
Weight loss is a long complex process. I've noticed that yes many people who have been successful with it do measure and count just about everything. However, I've also read enough stories to realize that those people didn't get to the point where they could do that overnight. Aside from sheer math (eat less calories than you burn) weight loss is an extremely emotional process which involves a lot of soul searching. Some of us might need tough love to stay motivated, while others might need to learn from their own experiences before they are ready to make a change.
So thanks again to Olivia for being brave enough to open herself up and being honest with us about a very difficult, confusing and emotional issue.
WOW!!! Where the HELL have I been??? Okay I am regreting not reading your blog for a week.
To all involved... Years ago I lost 110 pounds. Yes, that is right, an entire person (size) was erased from my side. I usually dismiss the fact that I lost all this weight, but right now I will let my self be proud of it.
Guess what? I did not portion-size, calorie-count, or "diet-down" my eating. I ate healthy foods while every other day eating something like ice cream. I just worked out an incredilble amount and had tons on jobs to keep my interest off of food.
What you don't know, srndpty0110, is all of the stuff that is going on behind the scenes. Such as, Olivia seeing a Nutritionist for her Daily Caloric Intake (for her activity level, etc...) and her previous eating habits. Don't comment as if you personally know Olivia and what she is going through. Weight loss is specific to the person going through it and everyone responds to different methonds.
Maybe you find it difficult to read Olivia's blog because your metabloism does not allow you to splurge every once-and-a-while. I don't know, because I don't know you. But what I do know is that would be your problem, not hers. Your negative comments are not wanted here, so go share them elsewhere.
Wow. I go away for a couple of days and look what happens!
I shall be brief as I believe others have said all that needs saying....Now, here's the thing, Olivia is a very positive, upbeat person. Why? Because she works at it. G-d bless her.
I don't. So, I'm sorry, but I have to say, no. You aren't trying to help anybody. Stop fooling yourself. Admit, at least to yourself, that you have no interest in helping anybody here.
Who can blame you? You don't know anybody here, so, why should you care? No reason. That being said, why attempt to bring someone you don't know down? Hu, well, ya' got me! So, how about this for a plan? Go spread your particular brand of BS to some folks you know, sunshine.
Now, let's all return to our regularly scheduled program of upbeat positivity and what not! Lovely.
